PyRSDownloader – A Linux app for speed limited Rapidshare Premium downloading

June 3, 2009

Currently, downloading from rapidshare premium on Linux is a bit of a pain, especially if you need speed limiting / throttling to avoid frustrating others on your connection (sorry flatmates!)
The best solution I found was here:
http://www.g-loaded.eu/2007/09/15/use-wget-or-curl-to-download-from-rapidshare-premium/
but it’s all command line stuff which isn’t really appropriate in 2009 methinx… so i wrote a small python GTK front end for the whole process:
PyRSDownloader 0.1

PyRSDownloader for Linux

PyRSDownloader for Linux

The program is very simple and a tad rough around the edges (first proper project in python, woop!), but it works nicely, especially if you connect it to Firefox extension FlashGot. Only dependancy is you’ll need GTK and python installed. See the readme for more detail on using the program, all content is GPL’ed so feel free to hack away!

FreeFret version 1.1 release

March 7, 2009

So finally I have gotten round to sorting this project out, sourceforge.net has accepted the project and the svn repo is up for viewing if any developers have bug fixes or suggestions
Main page
http://sourceforge.net/projects/freefret/
Releases
FreeFretV1.1.jar
Hopefully having this all set up again will actually motivate me into doing a bit more development on the project, there are some user suggestions I’ve been meaning to implement, and there are a few (small!) bugs on the interval tests.
Anyway, enjoy!

Welcome to the new home of FreeFret!

March 5, 2009

So i finally decided to move FreeFret, my open source cross platform guitar skills trainer to a new home (’cause the old GWT page was a pain to maintain), I also bring you a slightly updated version (1.1) which will be basically indistinguishable to users but has a had a code cleanup!
